I started this tank a little over a year ago trying to do a kind of rolling waves aquascape with HC. I was lazy and planted the HC in large strips. During DSM I got that weird mold and flooded the tank. The roots weren't fully developed and the HC started hopelessly lifting up. I scrapped that plan after futzing around for about 5 months and decided to do a "Dutch/Nature" style with some small root wood I had laying around. I think I tried to cram too many types of plants in there and it got crowded real quick. Below is a picture of it at about the best it ever looked.

Well, all of those stem plants got to be a bit of a hassle to trim all the time, so I wanted to do something a little different and try to use mainly groundcover type plants and fewer stems. I also wanted to kick up the slope a little bit. Aquasoil doesn't really hold a slope too well on it's own so I had to come up with something to stabilize it. I'm trying to use 049 to hold it together. I sucked up most of the substrate in the foreground and started adding it to the rear. As the 049 establishes roots and grows taller, I add more substrate on top of it. So far, so good. The plan is to eventually remove the l. aromatica and use 049 across the entire rear of the tank with a peak slightly to the right of and behind the stump. It looks pretty ratty right now, but here's a picture of it anyways.

I'll update soon after trimming and replanting soon.

What that pink plant in the middle? How did you get HC Cuba to grow on top of the driftwood? And is that gloss in the left?

I like the old look of your tank with all the different types of plants, but am alsointerested to see the direction your tank is going. The colors look great. Is this a RCS only tank?

That appears to be Limnophilia Aromatica

Thought not grown in all the way its still has a lot of beauty to it. At first glance the new set up reminds me of a cave burrowed into a lush hill (the wood arch acting as a hill(s)) from the angle of the photo. I'm sure a full frontal view (rather than slightly overhead view) would null that look, but either way the plants and placement look lovely ^^

I would suggest replacing the as on the right for sand. It seems that you won't be doing any planting on that side, given how thin it is.

It's actually L. Aromatica

L. Aromatica. The wood is sort of a hollow stump, early on I put a little aquasoil and a small piece of HC in there. The groundcover on the left is "mini-glosso" or Elatine Hydropiper.

Thanks! Yes, just RCS for right now, I'm planning on moving them out soon to a breeder tank in the garage.

I'm still kind of messing with that spot. I think you are right though, sand might be the way to go, especially considering the slow progress I'm having with the E. Hydropiper!

Striking! The fiss looks amazing. Something tall back-right wouldn't go amiss imo.

Tank looks great!

I like how it slopes down to the right and your RCS look nice as well. I bet it looks amazing in person. Pictures never do enough justice...
