Nice set up man. Seeing any new growth yet? What about algae? Hopefully none's cropping up... Stoked to see 'er in person!

Thanks man! Not a ton of algae at all so far....just slow growth and things are starting to settle in. I'll put up a two week update on Thursday. Also I replanted a lot of the microswords because a good amount of them came up when filling the tank

Yeah, you're probably adding an algae crew soon, right? I read a forum post that said Takashi uses 2 Amano shrimp/gallon. He keeps a shrimp metropolis in there...

Replaced the moneywort with some Rotala Indica and also planted some brown crypts under the driftwood. Hoping to get some Anubias nana petite in front of the rotala. Im ordering a drop checker tonight and after that I'm hoping to have my CO2 levels set so i can start experimenting with some fertilizers

(11-19-13)

I'm unsure why the Hydro is growing such a strong shoot in some places and then not branching out both others are doing just fine. Any ideas?

Looks great! I like the high slope on your scape. Any idea what to do in order to keep it from leveling out over time? Are you using egg crates or anything?

My thoughts on why your hydro isn't growing well in some places, but very well in others is CO2. Have you checked for dead spots? Could just be a matter of repositioning your CO2 diffuser or outflow of your filter.

It's seriously looking great though.
Any idea what kind of fauna you're getting?

Thanks!

As of now I haven't really planned on doing anything with the slope, and no I do not have egg crates or anything like that, just aquasoil.

I think CO2 may be an issue too, i don't have my drop checker yet so i have just been running my CO2 at around 1 bubble/second to start. I know that my tank could probably handle more but I just thought that i would start simple. I'm thinking about possibly hanging my light so that way i could throw my filter on the side of my tank so it could blow the CO2 from the diffuser across the tank rather than just at a portion of the front.

So far I just wanna get a real small school of rummies and then a lot of shrimp

First Trim. Things are growing nicely and the micro swords are starting to carpet really well

Looking good manz. That moss is going to look great when it starts filling in some more; those crypts underneath will compliment them as well. Have you thought about switching to t5s? IME, I've kept CFs vs T5s of an equivalent caliber and my colors only really started to come out when I added the t5.

Also; I'd get the shrimp first, let them breed and colonize some before you get the rummies. They'll make quick snacks of any baby shrimp, and you'll get a larger colony without having to spend as much. With a larger colony= higher birth rate=more baby shrimp despite carnivorous fish.

Thanks! Yeah I have had T5's before and had good success with them, the only thing is I got that light for a really good price brand new in the box just with a broken seal so I'm going to stick with what I got. Im hoping that i can start to get some reds coming out when i start dosing iron

My plan is to add shrimp first definitely, im just waiting for all the ammonia in my tank to be gone from the aquasoil (still present now but almost gone).

So things have grown in very nicely and this is a picture after I trimmed everything down pretty good, even the microswords. Yesterday I added a couple crystal reds, some cherry shrimp, and a couple more rummie's. I also added a small power head because i started to get some blue green algae and i'm hoping the extra flow will help with dead spots
