The Lone Mountain

Here is the journal for a tank that I started today. It's a standard 5g tank that will be very basic, most likely a grow out tank for cpd fry and OEBT culls. It will be very minimalist in the sense I will only be growing HC in the tank and the hard scape is one carbonate rock. If anyone can identify the specific type that would be great. There was no label at the store I bought it at and it definitely leaches carbonates into the water column. I'm starting off DSM until I get my pressurized CO2 back online.
Cheers,
Brendan

Nice piece of rock but it could do with some plants In there, how deep is your substrate?

It's going to be a HC only scape. I have planted the HC stems and will grow them DSM. Substrate is an inch in the front. Two inches in the back.

Hey,

Not a pro on DSM - but I'm sure you'll hear that you have too much water. Just keep the substrate saturated and use a misting bottle every 2-3 days after opening up for air.

Cheers,
Tom

I was going to say, your water level was way to high. Now, it's still a bit to high but if it's working, it's working.

My advice would, if you only want one rock, to find one about 2/3's the height of the tank. Something with a lot of character is great but anything taller. Even that rock will look about 1/2 inch shorter with health HC.
