Sounds pretty efficient to me. Do you use a paintball tank? Sorry for all the questions haha.

I actually bought a 5lb and online for $66 shipped and my regulator was $89 and it cost $10 to fill and will last at least 6months cheaper in the long run

Nice! Yesterday I was reading a tutorial on how to build a regulator that looked a lot like that one. $89 doesn't seem too bad. What brand/model?

Aquatek. I got the $89 version on eBay, then I bought the brass bubble counter seperate, I've read a lot about building your own and I may do that down the road. This is my newbie trial and error version. This tank will be dosed macros one day and micros the next and water change at end of te week and that's it. I think I have it running a bubble a second or a tad less and the growth after a week is awesome. I have a seasoned hob on it to speed up the cycle and then I will move a pair of apustogramma double red cacs in there for them and maybe some rummy nose tetras and that's it. I have an empty 20long directly underneath this one that I'm working out what to do with, it currently has 2" if water and some cat hair in it.

Haha humble beginnings for that other tank

Man if you get those apustogramma definitely snap some pics, they are gorgeous fish.

I'll have to keep that ebay deal in mind for when I get some upgrades going.

Glad to hear you've seen good results so far!

I've got the pair already, picked them up last Sunday

The male, his color is much better now, the female is to shy to take a pic of. Awesome fish. I have a couple male apistogramma macmasteri that I need females for, but I think the second coming of Christ will be here before I find them. Yea it's best to upgrade a little at a time, but think what you want plant research and then pull the trigger. I started with a 75 back on February and have 15 tanks running currently. I got the itch and haven't been able to stop scratching it. But I'm at the point now where I've got the major stuff so it's odds and ends here and there.

I think I'm about to start a dirted tank in my derimmed 10 gal. I've got a little Seachem black Onyx Sand I plan on mixing in lightly sifted MGOPM top with Black Diamond. Haven't decided what to put in it yet, depends on what is left after the 55 rescape/replant. Might even wait until the first few trims from the new plants for the 55 have grown in a bit! So many projects, not enough stands! I think I might have to build a beast of a stand/bench/rack, 72"L(at least) x 30"W at least two layers tall, probably with a third to hang lights from use as shelving... I need some work space! haha...

Did you get going on this project yet? I just saw u posted here as I was gonna update with a 2 month pic

Dwarf sag doing what it does and taking over te front. This tank is awesome, I only do top offs. I changes out the wack hob filters for just a single dual sponge filter since bioload is small and any mass is getting bigger. No deaths, just to many plants to see what's going on, on the substrate.

Those apistos I picked up spawned. Did a 50% water change yesterday and afterwards it was like a cloud of babies just appeared out of nowhere

Not those ones. But I have 6 day old fry from the same parents and pulled the male this time. Seems to have a better effect. She parades them around the tank to graze on everything. So hoping for a good batch this time. I have 2 survivors from the first batch. Seem to be a male and female

Here's the 3 month old male
