Hi all,

I'm new here, but am trying to learn more about planted aquariums. Here's a picture of my 72 Gallon Bow Front Paludarium.

Wow! And I do mean - wow!
What is under the elevated land mass on the left? Is it saturated with water or is it sealed off?

Looks awesome, very inspiring. Can you give some details? How did you build that background wall? What did you use for the left part, the land area?
What is your lighting setup currently?

Thanks for all of the nice replys.

Pete - The tank has been up and running for 18 months now.

GCA/Wasserpest - The land and water areas are sealed off with plexiglass. The land area has a base of Terra Lite clay balls covered with landscaping mesh, then covered with a mix of Repti-Bark and Jungle Mix. There is a bulkhead and valve under the tank to drain off the land area as needed.

The back is Cork Bark siliconed to the glass.

Currently I'm just using two (2) 48", 40 watt T-12 flourscents. What do you guys suggest for lighting? Should I overdrive the current lights or go for the compact flourscents?

Another pic showing the sump and filter system.

Awesome! Whenever I see something like this, I wish I had more space to set up a larger paludarium. Looks like your own little tropical lagoon.

Is that hygro polysperma in the water near the waterfall? Let me know if you have any luck getting it to grow emersed. I've had some luck, but the stuff has difficulty staying upright. Maybe you'll have more luck than me if it grows in a nice thick bunch like that.

Also, where did you get the moss? Did you get it from blackjungle?

Truely spectacular, well designed and looking very natural in approach.

Really an awsome tank Tim, thats beautiful. Do you get any splashing of water on the glass from the water fall? Is that a pre drilled reef ready tank or did you drill the glass for the bulkhead yourself? I was looking into having a tank drilled but couldn't find any easy/safe way to do it myself.
