40 Gallons of Pain



My 40 Breeder. Having trouble with thread algae at the moment and cannot get Rotala wallachii to grow.

From the picture, It doesn't look like you're having any troubles at all. looks great.

Looks great, what are the specs in terms of lighting? CO2?

Thanks. I just did a major cleaning. You can't really see the algae unless you're right up close.

-2x39W T5HO 8 hour photoperiod
-5 lb. pressurized, Red Sea regulator, Parker H3L needle valve set at 3, bazooka diffuser, on and off 1 hour before lights
-Aquatop 500 canister

Have you checked your nitrate levels? Imbalance of nitrates causes algae in my tank.

I found the same, Rotala wallichii can be challenging.

+1 - a tricky one for sure. The bottoms of mine would get all thin and only the tops would get full.
