So I'd figure I'd share my first attempt at a planted tank. While I've had different fish tanks all my life, I decided to start this planted tank.
Before I had an 55 Gal sand tank with Angels, Placos, Tiger Barbs, and gourami's. My buddy had a 125 Gal tank that he never cleaned and his wife said to get rid of the tank. Yeah for me!!
I got the tank, stand, and filter for CHEAP!! Well... He had some gravel in the tank that I didn't remove and it had pond snails.
After thousands of them breeded and every trick to kill them, I have embraced them.
I removed all but about 1/4 inch of sand with the snails on bottom of tank. Threw in some Miracle Gro Organic Soil, and plant gravel on top of that. What you see here is day 2 after setting it up for plants.
The plants I got from Petsmart so I'm sure they are easy to care for. They seem to be doing well for me.
I got 5 clown loaches. At least they seem to be holding their own against my snails.
