Hurry up and put that driftwood in!

I'm excited to see how this plays out. Great dimensions for the tank, gorgeous hardscape, well-planned.

Basically, you're just teasing us the more you hold out. HA.

thanks for postive comments, am waiting to add parts to the tank so that if I have issues with the cycle I won't start second guessing, actually I am pretty phyc'd as things seem to be going well,

I have used the wait time to make a final plant list and a final fish list,

had to get more ammonia today and will go into town tomorrow to pick up more ammonia test solution,

Tank is still cycling. I am adding enough ammonia to raise the level to about 3 once a day. The level falls to zero over night. I am only adding ammonia once a day. The nitrite level changes from about 3 to 5. It appears that nitrites are high when ammonia is low and visa versa.

Need to go to the store and buy more ammonia today.

9/20 Update-- Fun stuff begins now-- My cycle finished this morning so I am ready to start adding stuff to the tank. Hardscape things will go in this evening and I'll take some updated pictures. I have decided on a plant order and will place my order Monday of next week and plan on adding plants the following weekend. Fish will be added in two batches. I will start a new QT tank this weekend and place an order for the first batch for delivery in a week.

It is sort of nice when plans seem to work out. I put the large piece of driftwood in last night. I had mounted it on a piece of slate as it was a floater. The whole think fit through the top and fit the aquarium size wise. The slate keeps it down and the substrate hides the slate. My two white rocks reflect a lot of light which is part of what I was after. Looking forward to adding plants.

Looking good. I really like that driftwood. I have the same 120. Great size tank and works perfect for my Discus. Looking forward to seeing your project completed.

Ready for plants now, but I am at a trade show in Las Vegas for a week so I will order next weekend. Plan on getting several each of the plants that work in my 50g tank. I will get enough plants to get a good start, my list is 54 plants. I will play with getting some more interesting plans as the tank matures.

Plants will be here Friday of next week. I have draw a plan and will have fun getting them planted next weekend. I bought all low light plants and about half faster growing plants. Am setting up my QT this morning and plan to order fish for delivery end of this week. Fish will be 6 corys, 4 otos, 2 algae eaters, 15 columbian tetras, and 6 angelfish. Plan to buy the angels from a local breeder and the rest on-line. Getting closer!

Plants arrived yesterday. I planted 54 plants last night. This was far less than the on-line places recommended for my tank but about as many as the tank will reasonably take, IMO. The tank had some residual nitrate build up from feeding a bit of ammonia since the end of the cycle so I drained 70% of the water to ease planting then filled it back up.

Need to take some real pictures this weekend as the phone camera does not do very well for this application.
First fish due next week and second batch the week after.
Getting close.

Well, I attempted to download some nicer pictures taken with a normal camera but I could not figure out how to put multiple pics in one post as lots of others do. Need to find my macro lens and experiment with it and lighting a bit and will be able to improve on the results further.

First fish arrived today. Six Platinum Angelfish arrived from a breeder on the other side of NC today. They went through the drip acclimation program and have been in their new home for about an hour. They are small, dime to nickle size.

The next fish will be from a large on-line source and they will go into the QT. The Angels are the only fish in the new tank and they will remain by themselves during the next three weeks. I figured I wanted to keep the local fish and the on-line fish separate.
