Oh nerite snails, how I love them. Dutiful, clean detrivores. They don't breed like rabbits (causing the Snailmageddon) or foul up the water (I'm looking at you, apple snails). They are virtually un-killable so long as you keep them wet and wouldn't think to munch on live plants. These glorious, pretty little snails should be everywhere for sale.....right?
Oh you would think. But you would be wrong.
It may have to do with my location, but there is a complete dearth of local fish stores. There are maybe 2 within an hour that are good. The one I visited today was much closer to my residence. They were on the small side, but had a very nice selection of livestock. What dry goods they did carry were quality and decently priced. They also happened to have nerites.
True, they weren't necesarily cheap (3.99 a pop, but better than the crappier store selling them for 4.99!) but I had to have them.
And so now I have two.
On another note, my plants are noooot happy. The frog tank is trying to kill a java fern. The main event betta tank isn't looking too happy either. As of right now I haven't been dosing or using root tabs, but the root tabs in the mail (and a better temperature light for the frogs) hopefully will help. Any tips are appreciated too.
Do I get an award for messing up with java fern and anarchis?
