Yo! I've only been in this hobby for 5 months now. I started out with a .5 gallon tank with a goldfish that was won at the fair by my daughter. The goldfish lived a few months, and was replaced with a guppy. I did some reading and discovered that tank was way too small for any fish, so I bought a ten gallon kit from petsmart. I let my 3 year old daughter and one year old son pick the decor. I ended up with a fake rock, a submarine, and a Barbie.
I bought my first plant from petco shortly after. That's when the bug hit me. I never knew you could keep such beautiful plants in a fish tank. I thought the only thing you could keep was seaweed. Unfortunately the plant I bought wasn't an aquatic plant, so it had to be tossed outside when it started rotting.
3 weeks after I bought the 10 gallon kit, I picked up a 55 gallon from petco's 1$/gal sale. I slowly pieced together everything and set it up. Then I discovered plantedtank.net, which instantly turned into a deep addiction to have a beautiful tank like so many of you have. The rest is history.

As you can see, there is no reasoning to this tank at all. It's a little bit of everything. If I saw something I liked, I stuck it in there lol. I change everything around every couple months, but I think I'm happy where I'm at right now.
The start about 4 months ago
The rock is on top of the driftwood to hold it down until its submerged. And pardon the iphone photos, it's all I got.
