I don't think I will be rooting the water lettuce at this time. All the plants that I have in the tank currently, besides the foxtail, will be traded out for other things once the tank gets going and starts cycling properly. I don't know if I like floaters just yet... I think I like more the planted stuff.
Does anyone know how to root foxtail or elodea? I'm just throwing in some free plants for the time being to help level things out.
I added red lava rock to the sump. I filled up an entire chamber full of it. I'll be adding the mechanical filtration to it pretty soon. I had to get my ten gallon reef tank up and running since I already have plenty of living livestock in it to take care of at the moment.
So far, I really like the way things are looking in the 75g tank. The tank is about half way full at the moment. Over the course of the next week I should have enough water collected to start the sump.
How long after getting the sump going and the plants "rooted" can I add some fish? How much fish? Can someone make some fishy suggestions? When should I start to add CO2 to the tank. How much GAC should a 75g freshwater planted tank use? All of this stuff is new to me, and I am the type of person to overcomplicate things, I know.
I'm going to the hardware store this coming weekend to see about making a home made siphon hose setup that hooks to the sink. I'd appreciate it if someone could link a build to me so that I can get some ideas of how to do it properly.
