So I like the rest jumped head first into this hobby About 6 months ago with a cl deal I couldn't pass up. I did caribsea floramax with a Pfs cap. I know now a cap was not needed and especially a dark lower substrate and then a lighter top layer. Noob mistake. So I've been considering tearing this tank down as I'm not happy with it and I didn't know where to begin to correct it. Yesterday I was doing a water change and I just went for it just a mess pure ugly
The left side was a crypt spirallis that took over the whole corner and has choked out any other plants the root growth from the underside is amazing
this was my huge centered dw with java fern all over it. I actually pulled this and sawed the piece in half and shifted it to the left
pics are a bit cloudy but all u can see is the java fern now and that right hand corner was taken over by jungle Val so I moved some more over to the side and behind it as we'll as an amazon sword and a Ruben sword in front of that
A fts shot from today cleared up
The tank has 4-t8 Home Depot shop lights 2 at 6500 and 2 at 5000k. It has a sun/sun 304b filter with a DIY spray bar the length of the tank and a small rio power head pushing water along the front I have root tabs I use with great success with growing stuff. Ugly tank but I think it's better then it was. I need some low lieing plants for the front now but not sure what as I had horrible luck with micro swords
It would only let me post 6 Pics on tapatalk so here's a few more the java fern and jungle Val side the middle with a few plants I'm not sure of, stem plants bacopa is one not sure of the other
This tank has
Rummy nose tetra
Upside down cat fish
10 various Cory
Bunch of amanos actual number unknown
2 clown loaches
Allegedly sae but I'm not sure
Thanks for looking and any ideas critiques or out right hate mail are welcomed!
How did the T-8 fixtures do with plant growth? Have you tried dwarf hair grass? it will grow slowly for a foreground plant under lower light conditions, my guess though is that you have medium light? in which case it should carpet nicely.
