Oh I am sure it will look much greener with CO2. I was just saying it will grow without. It even grew at the edge of my soil in the sandy "rivers".
I am sorry too you lost your white betta. I lost mine as well.

DHG will grow even without liquid CO2. As I said before, it won't look nearly as nice as if it you pumped CO2.

I vote CO2!

Newbie question: any difference in ZooMed Nano10 vs. 501/511? any preference?

haha i am exactly where you are. small world .

co2 is the way to go, will you be doing any EI dosing as well? i suggest if you are on a budget to get a co2 paintball setup. i was going to do that bought the paintball co2 tank, filled it up but ran to some issues and decided to go the full co2 tank route.

you can always get a black background that will hide the hob filter a bit.

Still undecided whether to go hob or cannister. Im thinking those small hobs wont ruin the look of the rimless tank so much..

Water, thx for feedback. Any idea whether dhg will appear "greener" if I pump co2 compared to excel?

The nano 10 looks like the 501. Those two are rated for 10 gal tanks. Just from looking at the two, it looks like there isn't much of a difference. The 501 is a turtle filter if that means anything. The 511 is rated for 10-30gal tanks.

Nice! Prob no EI dosing (I dunno how to do that stuff tbh) so ill be sticking with seachem liquid fertilizers. I only have a nano tank so the cost wont be too bad :p
Ill check out those paintball co2s!

Nothing wrong with using a turtle filter. It's actually better. Supposedly that filter can run 30hrs dry. I'm used to filters burning out when they run dry, so I've never tried it. I'm using the 501 on my Fluval Chi and it's awesome. When I mess with the ADA substrate and it gets cloudy, it clears up in a few seconds. I have purigen and seachem matrix in it. On the side with the intake, I stuffed an AC50 sponge in there for extra mechanical filtration

You should go with a full setup or at least get the regulator and add an attachment for the paintball can so that way if you ever want to upgrade, you'll just need a bigger can.

I have the 501 turtle canister it works great. I also have a chi with an azoo hob it's really tiny and cute...$10 an it serves its purpose. My zoomed501 sits on a 7.6 gallon tank fully covered in dhg.. Good luck !!

9mm, but you can use 10mm too if that's easier to find

Home depot. Window privacy vinyl. Cut to size, peel film off, stick to glass. Down side is that you have to buy the whole roll and the white costs more than the black.
