mwei's very FIRST 10 Gallon

Finally got the time to put together my very first planted 10 gallon tank! That 10 gallon had been sitting in my basement for go knows how long...just gathering dust until now!
This is what my finished product is:

Tank: 10 Gallon

Inhabitants:
2 Adult male guppies (1 cobra, 1 leopard pattern(s))
9-10 guppy fries (sex and patterns unknown)
10-12 Red Cherry Shrimps
3 Malaysian Trumpet Snails 15-25+ Ramshorn Snails

Plants:
Hornwort
Jungle Val
Hygrophila Corymbosa
Frogbits
Duckweed
Java Moss
Flame Moss
Linderia Rotundfolia
Water Sprite
Riccia Moss
Hydrocotyle Tripartita
Ludwigia X Arcuata
Najas Guadalupensis

Substrate: Eco complete
Covering Gravel: White Gravel

Filter(s):
Hang on Aqueon QuietFlow 10
2 DIY Sponge Filters with Air Stones

Hardware:
1 Submersible Water Heater with Adjustable temperature and built in thermostat
1 Desk Lamp with Fluorescent Light Bulb
1 Hanging Breeder Tank
1 Thermometer

Plan for future: Although it may get a bit overstocked, I'm going to try to get some schooling fish, most likely some neon tetras, and several endlers in there. I may also try to place my female betta, Tigeress, into the tank and see how well that goes. Will also add more shrimps and snails.

ahh the tank looks so nice!!! good luck with it! I really want to see what it'll look like after you set it up!

The big green plants are either the Java Ferns (darker green ones) or the Hygrophila Corymbosa (the ligher green one)

6/5/13 [UPDATE]

Looks like everything is doing very well in the tank! All plants are standing up nicely and very green. Guppies all seem happy, including all the guppy fry that I have in the breeding tank in there. Shrimps and snails seem to be flourishing as well!

So far, I've been on a regimen of doing water changes every other day (I am doing 20% water changes) and leaning less and less on the API Quick Start. Water has been crystal clear since the tank was done...so I'm guessing that's a good sign, right?

In a couple of weeks, or maybe a months time, I am planning to add more shrimp. I currently have 12 Red Cherry Shrimps in there and I'm hoping to get them to breed...how many more should I get in there? I think I only have 2 females in the whole lot of 12 RCSs in the tank...

6/27/13 [UPDATE]

Woot woot! Just reached week 4 of being up and running! All is going well and plants are still flourishing AND one of my guppies is pregnant, YAY! Also, I think both of my female RCSs are berried as well!

Here's some pictures of my fishies from the 10 gallon plus some pictures of my betta fishes!

6/28/13 [UPDATE]

Hornworts and Frogbits came in! So I added them both into the tank! The hornworts don't seem to want to be organized so it's completely ruining the aesthetic view of the tank...
