That's beautiful and looks gigantic. Got any shots of it with something beside it as a size comparison?

It's not big compared to the pond lotuses, in fact it's small compared to those. It's just the biggest one I've seen in my tank.

I will take a shot with something to indicate it's scale tonight when it opens again. It closes completely into a bud during the day and opens in the night.

Here's a shot of it in the process opening for the evening.

It is surprisingly fast to open and close.

I don't know

The leaves are green, it is not the red tiger I have in the tank. It's not the mottled green lotus plant in my tank either. Just realized I seem to have 3 different kinds of lotuses. Either that or they are in different stages of development.

Re: Biggest lotus in my aquarium

Um, it does not look like a red tiger lotus flower I had, which was night blooming also. But then I understand that there are many lotus types.

Here it is with a quarter next to it for size.

It is changing every day. The center part with stamen and stigma haven't fully opened yet.

Will try to get a full size pic tomorrow. I had to trim most of it's leafs as it was taking over the tank and cutting off light to all other plants. It looks pretty terrible right now. Except for it's flower :-)

I discovered the flower stalk (it hadn't reached the surface yet) by accident while trimming the rest of it's leaf stalks. If I had known it was flowering I would have left it alone.

Thanks, it's a 29 gallon.

It's really not enough space for the plant unfortunately. Anything less than a small pond probably won't be.
