55 gallon operation: Make over

Hello! I am new to planted tanks, at least, in my mind. I started this tank when the petco $1 per gallon sale hit, and it all came together quickly. I was in love with Tanganyikan ciclids then, and knew very little about planted tanks. (New guy here, planted 55 gallon tang cichlid setup. Give me your opinions)

After a ton of research, I started planting..and aimlessly at that. I was unhappy with the finished product, so I built a nano setup while learning more and more about planted tanks. (My Eheim Aquastyle 9 gallon)

Now, here I am today. I pulled down the 55 setup, and have set out for my best effort yet.

[b]Filter: Eheim 2215 (going to build a co2 reactor, and using a cut-down spray bar)
Substrate: ADA aquasoil Amazonia NEW
pressurized Co2, EI dosing of ferts

Flora: Oh man, give me some time to compile the list

Fauna: A breeding pair of German blue rams, 30 Cardinal Tetras, 6-7 Corydoras, perhaps a few checkerboard cichlids also..Always looking for suggestions!

Pulled all of the rocks:

Made the sand about 1/8"....VERY thin layer to soften the rock against the glass. Started to outline the rock placement with aquasoil

1 9L bag of aqua soil...WOW a 9L bag goes A LONG way...Going to do another bag on just the backside, to build up the back wall against my large rock.

Redid my spray bar so it fits the width of the tank

The corgi didn't want to help

Was going to put in a large plant order, but I am not sure what to do yet. I was thinking glosso for a carpet plant, any suggestions?

Another day, and lots of work later...

stauro as my carpet/foreground plant...

I have one shot at getting all of this moss down, as this rock will NEVER come out...AND tying it down inside of the tank under water would be a nightmare! (weeping moss)

Filling it up...you can see some of the stem plants in the back....

Well, here we are...Three 75% water changes, a TON of surface skimming with my python...Mounted the heater, and the filter has been in operation for a few months, so hopefully the aquasoil will cycle quickly.

Awesome rock, it'll look great when the foreground fills in.

Thanks! I finally got the co2 hooked up, and the tank is cycling QUICKLY...I already had several months of bacteria built up, but I pulled most out when I took out the pool filter sand. Hopefully I can cycle the substrate fairly soon! My GBR's would be MUCH happier in this tank than the 10 gallon quarantine they laid eggs in!

So my ammonia dropped to nothing, as did nitrite. I dosed ammonia, even though I don't have to with Amazonia, and it brought it into nitrate within 14 hours.

Very excited to say lightly I stocked the tank today. I reserved 20 cardinal tetras, but won't bring them home for a week. For now, my German blue ram pair moved in, and struggled to acclimate, but all is well now. Moved my otto's, and bought 3 corydora (sterbai), and 10 Amano shrimp.
