Hairgrass is doing great as well as the HC! I did get my plants from aquariumplants.com. No problems with them.
I am using the EI method and dose dry ferts daily. I would recommend against the Onyx sand with the CO2 it raises KH and GH and hence ph.

I already ordered eco complete and was planning on doing. Layer of eco complete, first layer laterite, then more eco complete. Ive always had success with eco complete. Hoping it will work for hairgrass.

I have this tank. I am using a ho t5 on it and I don't think it is enough light. Have been thinking about upgrading it.

Anyway your tank looks great. I'll have to remember to check on it.

Thanks for looking everyone!

I specifically chose the 36" Fuge Ray over the Ray II because of the lower par numbers and hence lower maintenance, trimming, ferts, algae etc.. So far it seems like plenty of light to grow HC, glosso and hairgrass just fine. The only plant I have that is just hanging on is the rotala. Not sure why!

I will take some better high res pictures soon!

Update:
So now I have fish!
7 Bronze Corys(transfered from old tank)
15 Ember tetras
10 Axelrod's Blue Rasbora
4 otos (transfered from old tank)
6 amano shrimp

Plants are only doing okay. I am not sure what is wrong with them, but growth isn't great. I also have a bit of algae both claphadora and a tiny bit of BBA. I have been slowly removing the HC as the cory cats dig it up.

My co2 is in the correct range of 45ppm (about 3-4 bubbles a second.) I still change 50% water weekly.

kh 6
ph 6.6-6.8
3/8 tsp KNO3
3x 1/12 tsp Kh2po4
3x 1/12 tsp Trace
I have been dosing between the 20 gallon and 40 gallon recommended amounts of ferts 3x a week for EI. Maybe I have a deficiency? Should start upping the amount of ferts until things perk up?
