Working Title is "Prituri Se Planinata"
Roughly translates to "Avalanche"
Scrapped out my old paludarium sometime ago. Had the itch to push
the concepts from the first one alittle farther with a unique
stlye or build idea. Finally decided on an attempt i am willing
to give the old college try. Starting the major construction after
finals, and hopefully everything will be in good shape before
classes start again this august.
I will add a few pics as I finish collecting parts this next week or so.
Really not to much to see, just wanted to share the ideas with everyone
and see if anyone had comments.I have not seen to many vertical builds
featured of this size. Plenty of commercially available vivs, and convertion kits in tanks sizes upto 40g.
Water level will be kept quite shallow. I doubt filling a 90g
with alot of water sideways would be safe. Shooting for around 12".
The breeding group of elassoma gilberti i want to move into this
setup eventually are more than comfortable now in a standard 10g.
Standard 90g - Vertical - 18x24x48
- Same Viewing Window (18x48)
- 20-30g sump
- Inline mag-drive style pump
1 - 175w Metal Halide - 6700k
1 - 20" 96w Coralife PC - 6700k - backup, if needed.
Plans so far
Classic false bottom eggcrate stlye foundation
I have a 5g bucket full of natural color ecocomplete
from my last paludarium project to re-use. I plan on
using ground peat/coc fiber to coat the Great Stuff
Foam Background and other areas.
Still sketching the water flow, and collecting pools
to get the location right. Obviously alot of improvisation
will be required as I build the features. Plenty of driftwood
saved up for this project as well.
I do have two azoo water pumps for additional trickle features,
and will install a mistking system as one of my final pieces.
Two removable side pieces will be fabricated out of gs foam, and
plexiglass to close in the tank where the glass tops would have
Simple plant list for now.
assorted crypts - emersed + submerged
java fern - emersed + submerged
moss - undecided what type - emersed and/or submerged?
I will have to get the plumbing, and hardscape fully functional
before i can envision a better "planting selection". Keeping a
small selection of random plants growing emersed just incase.
Few quick test shots. Not sure where the collecting pools will go just yet.
Glass and tank in general still need a good cleaning too..
