Casa de Roy Johnson (My planted Betta 2 space) pic heavy

This is my first aquarium in 8 years. I worked at shops for 3-4 years and had been a reef guy prior with some experience keeping and breeding bettas. Got bit by the bug again HARD and now have 2 new tanks. My 7.5 here: 7.5 Mr Aqua Rimless (Several Pics)

I started this tank March 3rd so its been going a little over a month now. The betta's name is Roy Johnson. The filtration isn't ideal. Its a Tetra Whisper i internal powered by an air stone. I will probably end up going with a powered internal turtle filter type thing. Only problem with that is, a lot of times they are too strong. For light I have a small ZOO Med Betta LED and a 20 watt halogen desk lamp

Here is a video:

I'm using almost the full line of SeaChem fertilizers and doing 40% water change every 5 days or so.

Cool. I have a betta named Roy also. Didn't think to give him a last name though!

Roy jumped out of his tank about 2 weeks ago and nearly died. Luckily my little dog was messing with it and I caught her. He was feeling better after a day ad his scale damage is nearly healed. He is one of the most active and aggressive Bettas I have ever kept.

Haha! I went to college with a guy who couldn't be bothered remembering people's names, so he called everyone Roy. The name Roy became the "go-to" name when you couldn't think of someone's real name. So when I couldn't think of a name for the betta he became Roy.

I trimmed things up, did a water change and added another type of fern today. PetCo didn't know the species and I haven't looked it up yet.

I also started a little cup to put outside and grow clippings in.

Flora Max capped with black sand filled to the gravel line with fertilized tank water.

I still have a Cherry Shrimp

Whoa I thought both Cherry shrimp had been eaten and this morning as I was looking for Roy Johnson, who was sleeping in the back of the tank, I noticed this little guy hiding out under the anubias pot. I was so excited!

Once I flood my Iwugami tank, I will try to get the shrimp out of there and into a safer place. I dont like the bullying that goes on with Bettas

Looks good! Lucky your RCS are both females, otherwise they would be betta snacks for sure!

Good bye Roy Johnson

The betta killed both Pristella Tetras so I evicted him and replaced him with a small group of neons. I want peace in my little tank. Funny thing is, the neons fight for status amongst themselves. lol
