Ikebana 6.5G

Ikebana 6.5G

This project is based on some theory and ideas that I brought up in this thread...

http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/showthread.php?p=2961978#post2961978

I want to make a setup based on ikebana, the Japanese art of floral arrangement.

I think I have a pretty good concept in mind for this. I will use a very short and broad tank enclosure combined with tall riparium plants and thin, vertical manzanita branches.

Tonight I put together a cardboard mock up tank design. This box is 20" wide by 14" deep by 6" tall and I think it's a good shape...

For a better idea of scale I also stuck a couple of riparium plants inside. I think it looks pretty good...

For the actual layout I will select one plant quite a bit taller than these and combine with various other foliage.

I hope to get the glass pretty soon.

Naturally I'm putting fish in there too. This won't be much water, so I'm going to select a true nano fish for a small group to add. I want to try to get fish less likely to jump out.

Some Boraras sp. might be good. I have also wanted to do a setup with Neoheterandria elegans.
