Hey all, this is my jump back into aquariums after about a 5 year break. My first tank was a 25g that had had a variety of community fish but no plants. This time around I'm going for a more natural/self-sustained setup.
About 2 months ago I purchased a 45g tall tank from Petsmart (Petsmart and Pets Unlimited are my only local fish stores). A few weeks ago I finally got the first of my plants that I'm going to use the dry start method with. Things haven't really taken off since then but I think I was over watering. The past week things have looked better but no real growth.
Tank when I first brought it home...
Tank after putting in driftwood and substrate. Black/blue mix gravel on the right, Fluval Stratum on the left side.
HC/Cuba planted for the foreground.
Micro Sword planted on the left side and back of the driftwood.
Tank is currently sealed with plastic wrap to keep the humidity up (typically hangs around 80%). I've stopped misting and lowered the water that is in the tank to stop the melt on the HC. Also I've removed the drivewood to get rid of and stop the fungus growth.
Questions/comments/concerns are always welcome!
