Yet again, I am starting up an aquarium, but this time with an old friend.
My Fluval Edge that I bought about two years ago had a crack so recently I decided to take the top off. When I did this I realised evaporation was annoying and left dirty lime scale marks, so I'm going to get a 2mm sheet of acrylic to sit on the top. This stop evaporation but will still allow me to manoeuvre easier in the tank. If you're wondering, I took the top off with a Stanley Knife and some ribbon (easier with dental floss but I didn't have any at the time). The knife is used to score the outer bits and the ribbon is used to get deeper into the silicone. I had to smash part of the glass open to get inside.
Here is a list of all the stuff that's going to be involved.
Rimless Fluval Edge (6g)
Tetra Complete Substrate, capped with Black Sand
Aquaclear 20 (Edge stock filter)
2x MR11 LED Lights from ebay
Tropica Plant Growth System 60 (No longer using this)
Cryptocoryne Nevellii, Staurogyne Repens, Dwarf Hairgrass, Flame Moss
Red Cherry Shrimp, Pygmy Cories (Maybe, but I doubt it)
I'm trying the Tropica System because it's really cheap and in my budget, IT may not be the best but I'm a beginner when it comes to CO2. (I've been using Easy Carbo) I'm waiting on the gravels to come so I can order everything else
Do I set the CO2 system up during cycling? Or should I wait until the tank is cycled?
I'll post some pictures soon.
