Here it is planted. There are three different little orchids on there and several mini ferns. I want to add a couple more orchids. This thing take a while to grow in. I'm going to wait until the epiphytes start to cover pretty well before worrying about fish.

There we go! Nice! It'll be interesting to see monthly updates and watch it grow over the coming eight months, or so. You have the top sealed up with a glass cover I take it? Sweet mounting job, man!! Wait until it gets flowers!

You should put another branch in there!!

Question: What is a "mini-fern" exactly?

Thanks. Yes I have a glass cover on top to maintain warmth and humidity inside. I am also going to install a 60mm air circulation fan and the plants will like that a lot.

I do not want to add a second branch. This layout will look much better if I maintain negative space and clear definition of this single branch and the plants growing on it.

The "mini ferns" are a few species of small epiphytic ferns that I have in my collection. I really like these plants and they make an excellent carpeting effect as they grow in. I have three different species growing on branches in my 12X12 Exo Terra setup...

Sorry, Devin, I meant, "would you mind telling us what micro-ferns you are using" please? I need few species for my big system.

I'd like to know what those ferns are as well. This looks like it's going to be pretty cool!

Here is a quick photo update for this thing after the plants have had about a half-a-year to grow in.

I decided to ditch the idea for very shallow water with plants and fish and instead just used a layer of hydroton underneath. I was having a hard time trying to think how to make a water area look right.

Here's a little more plant detail.
