This is interesting. I am right handed and my scape focal point on the left too. Like wayyy left.

Im a rightie actually. I ended up buying far more branch wood than I'll ever need when I visited ADG. I just worked with the pieces until I found a grouping that seemed to flow well.

I've got high hopes for this tank and so far so good. I had seeded that 2213 for about 2 months on the 5.5g so today I'm gonna do some water testing and see where we're at.

Actually, I don't think the AQUASKY would be a good choice anyway for the way you made your layout.

cool that they are expanding the aquasky offerings, but yeah I'm going to work on a lot of emmergent growth in the back right corner, that's why I needed the light so high.

tested the water on my lunch break. ammonia was on the instant death side of the scale. I'll be doing a water change after work.

So I have a question for the more experienced scapers. I have not yet planted all the bacopa I have. Do you think that adding it would be too much? The back right corner is going to be reserved for a riparium style plant and the back left side will be densely populated with hygro kompact once matured.

Do you think I should even bother with the bacopa?

How do you like the gla inline diffuser? Any micro bubbles in the tank? If so, is it distracting? I'm contemplating on using it on future tank builds.

I absolutely love my gla inline. I will never go back to using glass diffusers. In my 5.5 when I switched to the gla I was immediately using roughly half the bps to get the same green out of my drop checker. The tank does take on a shaken sprite effect, but honestly I like it. The bubbles are extremely small, you really have to get right up on the glass before you see them. One thing that I like about the bubbles is that it lets me visualize exactly how the waterflow is inside the tank.

Just an update, I am not seeing encouraging things fromt he HC. Some of it is melting, some of it is growing. I'm hoping that it is just a transitionary thing.

some updated pics. Some of the hc has a hair algae I'm fighting, those spots are also melting. A few patches are holding out and look quite well. I'm thinking of pulling all the affected hc and just being patient on the carpet.

All the other plants are showing signs of growth. Especially the flame moss which is already cresting the surface according to plan! I also plan to let hc trimmings grow in the moss at the water's surface and a few seem to have already taken residence on the forming moss pad.

You'll notice I added another arm on the branch wood and attached some bromeliads.

Tank is almost cycled, nitrates were just starting to show up today when I got home from work.

Here are some updated shots:
