Looks great! If you're going to stain the wood dark, might I suggest you paint the brackets black? Blackened connectors on wood (dark or light) looks hawt.

Finally got around to staining the stand. It has 1 coat of Satin finish poly on it as well. I like the way it came out. Almost like an exotic wood. Half tempted to put one tank on top, and one on bottom so I don't have to make another stand, but that would defeat the 6' purpose. Anyways, I hope to get the second coat of poly on it and have it finish sanded this weekend.

Oh, and yes I will clean up the brackets once I'm done with the coat and sand.

So, I got ambitious and finished it out. I put a Kobalt 2" Wire Cup Brush (part # 0323652) on my drill and went to town polishing down the brackets. Had to be careful not to jump off onto the wood or it would make a scratchy mess.

Here's the full thing with just room lighting:

Overall, very pleased.

I do have some black easyLiner brand shelf liner that I'm going to double up under the tank for cushion and evenness.

I like your idea of these two tanks next to each other. I love the polished hardware look.

I will be very interested in what you put in these and how the scapes relate to each other.

Tom, who is finding himself being sucked into the long tank craze....

Very nice, those polished brackets are sexy

I'm also looking forward to seeing how you scape the two. I have two as well, but mine are going to be separate. I'm still scratching my head as far as what to do with them though.
