Given that some new shrimp started to act ill when I added them to the tank, I am now pretty sure it was the plants that were the initial cause of the problems I had. I received lots of great advice here about quarantining and thanks loads for adding your tip/procedure too.
Actually, just last night I read a mega thread at the invert section of the ukaps forum (maybe you have seen it?). It was about some plants that get imported from S.Asia to the UK, and the chemical cocktail that they can accompany them. Lethal for shrimp and hard to remove by all the quarantine methods I read so far.
They talked about an alkaline bath to help but yeh, best avoided in the first place right? I've found a seller on the big auction site that sells shrimp safe plants, but the more I am reminded of the dangers the better, so thanks again.
Great photos on your journal. Your main tank looks so healthy, I really like it. That driftwood rocks. Also great news about the berried CRS!
Haha mystery water
Like you say, don't go trying to fix it, it's working really well.
Good luck with the CRS and thanks for reading and commenting!
Photo from today and question..
This pic shows the size difference between all
the other shrimplets vs this one. You can see two regular shrimplets here - I am guessing the other's a runt? Aww, I do hate that word
But does that happen with clutches of shrimp?
