OMG Lets do it! - Iwagumi 11 gallon

Been mucking about with planted tanks for the past 4 or 5 months now. Decided it was time to step up my game and do it proper. Picked up this tank for $50, bought a bag of NetLea "Brown Soil" which I am told is cheaper than ADA substrate but actually the same, if not better quality! Spent about 10 minutes sifting through many rocks available at the local aquascape/planted tank shop. (Yes we actually have a store dedicated to everything aquascaping here in Toronto. BOMB!) and got home, put on some tunes to jam to and set to work arranging the scape.

Going to be high tech, Pressurized co2, 35W light, ferts (provided by Pfhertz) The works. Lets see how she goes!

Anyways, on to the pics.

Nice, just got back from AI I see. lol. I love that store. I got my Netlea there. I heard they just got in some Netlea black shrimp soil, I have to go get some soon. My crystals love the other stuff, it will buffer your water to 6.0pH, 4-5gH, kH 0-1. NOTE: It does leech Ammonia for the first 4 weeks or so, so don't add any livestock to it until test kits show its done leeching.

20g platy, , 2 x 10g shrimp, 3 x 20g shrimp, 7.5g shrimp and 1 great dane/mastiff puppy.

The plus side is gives the plants a great boost of ammonia when you plant them to get nice and rooted and grow in if you're planting small plantlings plus whatever else its loaded with.

Here is my old cube with Netlea.

Really, you Canadians and your Netlea soil!!!1! HEAD - DESK.

When will someone in the states start carrying this?!

I have to correct you... it's not the same as ADA... it's WAY better. When it comes to shrimp, anyway. Waaaay better.

I have serious dirt envy right now.

P.S. That stone is beautiful. It's going to look terrific as it ages.

I payed roughly that for my 9L bag of Netlea.

No idea. The box it came in just said "YiDing" on the side. And a website that is no longer available. The tank looks great and I love the way the front curves at the sides. However it isn't low iron glass so I can made of distinct green hues on the sides when looking from the front. But, I can't complain considering I didn't pay anywhere near the cost for the ADA tanks.

The substrate is great! no complaints here. The plants seem to love it.
