How are you liking the Turface? Did it cloud the water at all when you first set it up? Your setup looks great.

I took out the dirt substrate. It was just too messy with all the stem plants that I have. I tried kitty litter, but that was an utter disaster. So I used Turface which I am very happy with.

I replaced the school of rasboras with a school of albino glowlight tetras and a school of black neons.

Thanks. I am getting good growth from the Turface. I'd recommend it for a very economical alternative to Flourite. I rinsed it as you would normally rinse gravel, not too thorough. Here's a picture directly after filling. I then did 1 drain and fill and it was good to go.

I'm probably going to change my substrate over to turface or safetysorb pretty soon, this thread and the one going on safetysorb have convinced me that they are much less of a hassle compared to dirt. I've had dirt capped with black diamond for about 6 months now. My root feeders did great in it, but now that I've got everything lined out and able to grow stems, I think I want to rescape more for that than the heavy root feeders.

The tank has been rescaped. I saw some great pictures of triangular aquascapes and decided to throw my hat in the ring. I also added some sand to the foreground area of the tank. The main purpose was to give the smaller roots of the carpet plants something finer grain to cling onto. The bonus was that I really love the look of it.

Cool tank! I'm a bowfront fan and like it when I see others with that style of tank too. Keep it up.

Dang - what happened to all the pics? Nothing to refer back to in most posts now. Any chance you could repost a pic of your light hanger?

Thanks!
