Hi, I'm Mike and I have full blown collectoritis... again lol.
I've had these tanks set up for several years. Over the last two years my interest in the hobby declined. I ran out of co2 about 1.5 years ago. Getting the tanks filled is kinda a hassle so I never did refill them. I stopped dosing. I did monthly water changes usually when the water level got so low I got tired of hearing the water splashing from the filter lol. I lost about 50 species of plants in the process.
Anyway I recently got back into the hobby. At first I was just gonna get my main tank (a 40g breeder) back up and running. I was going to give away all my shrimp and take down my 29g completely. Then as I started to replace some of the plants that use to do good for me I somehow developed full blown collectoritis again. I decided to keep the 29g up and running.
Here are some pics from the first of april when I started.
Here is the 40g. Note the duckweed and the floating island of riccia.
Here's what it looks like currently. I removed about 3 freezer bags full of wendelov java fern and africa fern. There isn't really a aquascape. I'll hopefully be moving in the next few months so I'm not too worried about it. Just want good, healthy plants.
Here is the 29g. This pic is taken after I cleared the guppy grass that literally had taken over the tank. I don't know how some of the plants on the bottom survived with very little light. Also had either bacteria bloom or green water.
Here is the 29g now
Just thought I would share.
