Moonlighting is LED from above, underwater... Strip contains 6 blue elements and is on 3.5hrs. at night.

Various amts. of indirect sunlight hit this tank as well. Intensity and longevity vary with the seasons, etc.

Filtration:
External mechanical with some biological @ 350 GPH.
Internal biological @ 200 GPH.
Live plants!
Lava Rocks.

My favorite fish is the goldfish! I must say that that right there makes this an awesome tank. But that aside, this is a fantastic tank. Do you fertilize at all? Jinji is my favorite!

Without Algae, death of mankind would be inevitable.

Thanks all!

There are shots of the whole tank in the thread. The front is the whole thing and the one looking up shows the height.

Yes, the plants do get ferts. in the form of tabs & liquid nutrients. No CO2, though.

Wow! Tank looks great. I thought you ran co2 for sure from the looks of the plants. You've defiantly found the right balance.

No... No CO2... I find it too much of a hassle for one & very tricky to get right without risk to the health of the Goldies who require a lot more O2 than most fish. CO2 levels that would be fine for most other fish tend to be too high for Goldies and they end up "gasping" at the surface. The plants do extremely well with Flourish Excel dosed daily =)

Oct. 2012 update. Click on photos for bigger versions.

Hershey -- male Ryukin Goldfish who used to be all chocolate colored.

Pepper -- male Blue Shubunkin Goldfish; also qualifies as calico in blue, black, & white.

Changes:
Removed all Echinodorus species as Pepper was mauling them.
Rescaped tank & added more Anubias specimens from Tropical Haven
Calico fantail, Kanji developed tumors and had to be euthanized
Hershey is now all orange and has developed breeding stars so he's a mature adult Ryukin now. His color may still change in time. He's still young at 5 yrs. old.
Only one White Cloud Mountain Minnow left -- the rest succumbed to old age. The one left is 3 yrs. old now. She'll get new buddies soon.

Thanks for your interest!!

Wow hope for the tank which I inherited!

My workplace has a 29 g no plants, bright blue gravel,

I am going to try to plant it, if I can find something they won't eat.

I don't know how you do it. My goldfishes would just pull all of the plants out of the substrate. Wonderful looking tank!
