It's just getting going good. I moved everything from my old 2.5 gallon over. Including 90% of the water, and floated my old filter media in the new one to jumpstart the cycling process. Its been going for about 2 weeks with only 1 shrimp lost. But noticeable color change, growth and several exo removals.
The 1 that left the mortal coil was the only one that was almost clear when the shipment arrived so I'm guessing the shipping stress was too much to aclimate to a new tank.
I also have 2 berried. 1 with brownish colored eggs (that were a greenish tint) and 1 with bright yellow eggs. The one was berried when they arrived and the other I just noticed berried on Tues. or Wed. so I guess I'm about to have ALOT of baby shrimps.
You pmed me about your foreground, what light do you have? Are you using co2 ? Fertz?? Do you wan a grass foreground?
<Lighting: I'm using the PC13 fixture for the Finnex 4g
It's the 2pin deal about 6" long. I forget the K rating but its up there 6.5-7K range I'm sure.
I'm also using the Paintball CO2 setup at ~1bps.
Fert Schedule: 7 drops of Aqueon plant food per day. I was gonna use SeaChem Flourish but it has copper in it and I have a well.>
I really wanna grow HC but that won't happen in this tank. There's just not enough light to keep it low and fluffy. Even with the indirect sunlight I think it would probably get leggy.
Maybe... if I have my way..
Right now I'm doing a massive spring cleaning and I've almost tossed enough junk to get a 20L to go beside of this tank on my dresser The whole thing is 50" across! The finnex is 14" counting the tabs that stick off the side of the PC13 fixture legs. A 20L is 31"ish so that leaves me with about 5" of play room.
Got some free moss from the LFS today when I bought 6 Otos for my other tank.
Plopped it in but haven't done much else to this tank.. I'm frustrated at the cycle that seems to never be ending.. I don't want to see my last 5 shrimp die but I don't want to put them in the 29 to just be Tetra food either...
This stuff was so pretty it called for a TOTAL revamp of my 4g
Moved the last 5 shrimp into my 29 g (Matrix) ((they hauled it for the java moss))
I got some pics but the water is super cloudy.. Having to weight my homemade driftwood down until it waterlogs. I can't wait for this moss to start growing out and filling in..
This tank is gonna be so Bad Azz! I have a moss/driftwood cave made.. once it fills in this tank is going to be a cherry paradise
