You are correct.... Mine is 24x24x18. That is my mistake.

Ammonia and Nitrite both read 0 on my API kit. Nitrate is indicating a concentration below the lowest color mark but more than 0.

Tank is still very tannin stained, but I'm making progress.

I added a few more critters:

4 x Endlers Livebearers. (Poecilia wingei) Three males and one female.

1 x 1.5" pleco. Not sure of genus or species, however it is not a common sailfin. It has white tips on its tail.

1x 1.5" Red Line Barb (Puntius denisonii)

White tips sounds like a brushy nose pleco.

It was inexpensive at around $6. I know its nothing special, just not run of the mill brown.

That is one REALLY nice reef!!! Just noticed that you said you're in med school. Me too I'm an M2.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this tank progresses. Can't wait to see live plants in there

Thank you for the complement. I miss my reefs. I'm at the beginning of my M3 at this point and the time is flying by now.

I added my first live plants yesterday. One ball of java moss. The wood in the tank is still staining the water like dark tea so I'm still holding off on the leafy types.

I also added a 4 bulb 24 inch aquatic life T5 HO system to replace the old JBJ PC fixture. I'm digging this thing with one cord and the easy to use timer set up. I took out the two actinic bulbs and replaced them with an URI actinic white and aquasun. However, the only real difference between the actinic white and aquasun that I can tell is the aquasun has the internal reflector. Other than that, the spectrum looks very similar.

I may pick up another 2 bulb fixture because the front few inches of my cube are not lit as well as I'd like. I had my T5s over my reef spread out evenly over the whole 24" which illuminated the tank evenly. I did also have a 250 watt HQI halide on there too so I think my expectations are skewed.

Traded in my Marineland 200 Watt Stealth Pro heater for a different brand. I had noticed that I had set it to 82'F and the tank would only reach 77'F at most.

Tannins are really bad this week. I need to do a few water changes to get this under control again.

Did 20 gallon WC on Sunday and 10 gallon WC today. Added triple the carbon in the one biobag I changed. Thinking about adding one of my HOT Magnum filters with the carbon basket for a little while. Tank is looking good.

Two of the smallest Endlers males have vanished.... I suspect the Leaf Fish may have gotten them.... They were really small.

Updated Fish List:

2 Endlers Livebearers. (Poecilia wingei)
1 Red Line Barb (Puntius denisonii)
1 Spotted Leaf Fish (Ctenopoma acutirostre)
1 Panchax Killifish Male (Fundulopanchax mamfensis)
2 Sparkling Gouramis (Trichopsis pumilus)
1 Female Vail Tail Betta (Betta splendens)
1 Pleco
5 Peppered Cory Cats (Corydoras paleatus)
4 Black Neon Tetras (Hyphessobrycon herbertaxelrodi)
4 Glowlight Tetras (Hemigrammus erthrozonus)
2 Columbian Tetras (Hyphessobrycon columbianus)
2 Lemon Tetras (Hyphessobrycon pulchripinnis)
1 Bleeding Heart Tetra (Hyphessobrycon erythrostigma)

Plant List:
Anubias nana
Java Fern
