Thanks problemman. I'll try that with the nitrates. Does that mean I should lower phosphate levels accordingly?

I trim the HC weekly (people think I'm crazy), but after a couple weeks of that, it sort of learns to grow and stay that low. Especially when it's well rooted, it stays nice and short. Biggest problem I've seen with HC is that if you don't trim it, you eventually get the toupet effect where it uproots and just sort of sits on the substrate.

Well when you get a good full of I would live to try a small chuck.

As for phosphates keep them higher. 1.5-3 is good

Interesting! I'll give it a try. Man, if these plants get red, I know who to thank hah!

Oh and yes, when I've got some HC ready, all yours.

Updated pictures. Things are growing, things are living. Overall a happy aquarium. I'll let it go another couple months and then, maybe a different scape.

I did get the L. Aromatica to get orange'ish with purple under the leaves. I'll continue messing with ferts, light and C02 until I get it right.

Thanks! I had trouble getting this aquarium to pearl too at first. Not that it was my goal, but it's a nice thing to see. Getting enough water circulation seemed to be the trick. Also, if you have the CO2 shut off about an hour before lights out, things get really really pearly.

I usually turn them both on and off at the sometime. I am going to try building my DIY Led fixture and then build a whole staggered timer for everything, hopefully then she'll pearl lol!

High light is the only thing needed to make limno aromatica red on the top of the leaves ^^

Very nice scape by the way, keep it up!

Thanks! Yeah I was taking a little closer look at the lights and realized that all the plants I want to turn red are at a pretty high angle away from the lights. So they're being lit largely by indirect, reflected light.

Think I'm going to try and add a stunner strip right above them and see what that does for it.

A few current pictures of how things are going. Is that some red and orange you see in here? Yes, yes it is. There's even some moss from sulawesi. Secret sulawesi moss, grown from magical sulawesi beans.
