Awesome piranha, you going to upgrade the tank soon? He's gonna need the space.

I didn't use silicon on my DIY systems. You don't need to if the diameter of the hole drilled is smaller than the diameter of the tubing.

LOL i like the "Do Not Tap Glass" sticker at the bottom.
And of course, the mac sticker is awesome too.

Doesn't matter how many plants you start out with- you can always buy a few species then add more in over time.
Siliconing the DIY co2 cap is probably a good idea, regardless of whether the hole is smaller then the tubing.
Nice piranha!

i do plan to get a larger tank (want something rimless and with saphire glass ) when i get an appartment...... ( hopefully end of the summer, we will see )

the holes on my diy co2 are deffently smaller then the tubeing, but i will sillicone just in case.

lol i hate cleaning off finger prints, and i dont want him stressed out.

could you guys recomend something that i can plant on the substrate. ive seen tanks that have this grass looking plant across the whole bottom of their tanks and i love how it looks. ( i know it will take time for it to grow )

i did dwarf hair grass with the same exact light fixture, diy co2, and it was also a 29 gal. that is likely the grass your talking about. it will grow, but very slowly... when i added my presurized co2 i have to mow the lawn 1x a week now. before with the diy it was like maybe every month or so.

im considering getting rid of my piranha. this would suck as ive had him for 3 years and love him........ but i cant keep putting my hands in there :/ . i have tried a divider and kept him on one side and worked on the other he still tries to get through.

i feel terribal but i might do a coununity tank...........

He also destroyed the blue tube going to my filter...... so i have black there now to try to hide it.......

Alright.

so i decided with a piranha i either cant have a planted tank, or i need to find him a new home. i was considering not haveing it planted after buying alot of things for it to be planted that would of been stupid.

Reciently my Local pet store had a piranha in their display tank die ( he was there for 20 years! ) their piranhas name was tojo, and hes the reason i wanted a red belly piranha. so i asked if they plan to get another piranha, they said maybe. so i told them i plan to make my tank planted and everything and that i cant keep my hands in there all the time and asked if they would rehome my piranha kujo ( named him after tojo ).

they said they would love to rehome him in their display tank!

i hope im not going to H3ll for rehomeing him after ive had him for 3 years. i feel bad about it but it needs to be done. plus its a larger tank and i know they will take care of him!

so my new question is:
what should i stock for fish?

29 gallon biocube (sw) MJ1200, vortech MP10, stunner Led's, custom sump/refugium, + MORE
planted tank = .........currently working on it

a 29 is to small for your piranha any way. i would definatley donate him the the lfs, that way you know he will be properly taken care of and you can start your planted tank... its win win in my eyes.
