I don't think you'll have any problems growing blyxa in the sand. You see mine? That's after selling off 18 stems of it last week! I started with just a few stems in November!! It's a wonderful plant I think the root tabs help.
Well you've convinced me to try it!

New pic! Here's the tank as of today:

I took this picture during the day, so the colors are off. I was impatient to post an update :-)

Also, my Polygonum 'porto velho' is growing a flower! Here it is--it hasn't opened yet.

All the plants are growing very fast, but I'm having so much trouble getting my Rotala 'mini butterfly' to grow properly. After the trim I did two weeks ago, the mini butterfly grew SO WELL with super red leaves with a great shape to them. Starting about 5 days ago, the new leaves grew green, small, and twisted. I haven't changed anything about the tank. My suspicion is that I need to add more GH booster. Any thoughts? I love this plant and I want it to flourish! My Rotala 'araguaia' has the exact same symptoms. They either both do well or they both don't do well. Help!

wow i'm impressed with what you did with only sand. Is that Micranthmum umbrosum on the left hand side on the foreground? The reason l ask is because I wanted to try it out on one of my tanks and l wanted to see how other people use it in theirs just for ideas.

Thank you :-) I think what you're seeing on the left is Lindernia 'variegated' and Lindernia 'India'. Next to that, I have some ammania bonsai. Then the carpet next to that is a mix of HC and Rotala 'goias'.

Update pic! I've done a bit of trimming here and there since the last pic, but nothing major. I also got some S+ and SS CRS. I got a good pic of my 'MVP'.

It never opened because the stem just got soo long that everything just fell back into the tank. I have another flower though

Lol, what happened to the one that fell in? Did it died? Is the other flower from the same plant?

I cut it off the stem after it fell in! The new flower is from a different stem of the same plant. It hasn't broken the water surface yet, but I hope it opens eventually!

Holy moly... that's a lot of growth... A very impressive and full tank.

Once those stem plants get going, they grow almost too fast to trim!
