Ideal PPM of Iron & Chelated Iron?

Im in the middle of battling some thread / hair algae in my tank and Im trying to figure out what a good Iron level is to shoot for. Im using the Hagan test kit and it shows about .25 ppm Iron & 1+ ppm chelated iron (test tops out a 1). I though this was kinda high so I threw some carbon into my filter to try to lower the levels some (not sure how effective this is). So what would be a good iron level to shot for? Im dosing with PPS daily 5ml / 55g.

The answer to the iron amount is listed in the sticky above this thread.

As far as the hair algae issues go, you are looking in the wrong place.
Iron won't solve you're algae woe's.

I know that not the root cause, Im just trying to get everything in balance. Im pretty sure the algae woe's are due to a combination of filtration, poor CO2 concentration on one side of the tank and low PO4 overall. Iv pretty much addressed all of these issues but I just wanted to check on the iron.

From what I've read iron test kits are not very reliable. Something about the iron being used so quickly as to render the levels you'd see as not very applicable for trying to judge your dosing.
