Plants not growing?

Some of the plants look like they are melting. Maybe not enough light/co2 idk. I have the light on 7hrs a day with co2 open for a few hours and dose excel twice a week. I replanted the bacopa in different spots today they had long roots so I'm not sure why the leafs are melting.

You should keep CO2 on for the duration your lights are on. Excel is not needed in this case.

Is only your Bacopa not doing well? What is your lighting and fertilization regimen like?

Your co2 should come on 1 hour before any lighting comes on, and your co2 should shut off 1 hour before the lights go out. But can you give us more details about your tank?!?! Like substrate, kind of lighting, etc.... And if you can give us your water parameters, this will help us to diagnose the issue more clearly.

Please post close-up photos of the affected plants. Then we can advise you better.

Also, what fertilizers are you adding and how often?

What light (wattage/type) do you have? What size is your tank?

It is difficult to tell exactly what nutrient is missing at this stage. The species of plants in the tank are not extremely good indicator plants. Also, whatever the deficiency is it is very early on and not very clear yet.

I'd say it is probably nitrogen if anything since some of the bacopa and anubias leaves are deteriorating from the tips of old leaves and nitrogen is usually the most needed nutrient out of the macros/micros.

You really need to start dosing all the nutrients if you want to keep plants. You'll likely go from deficiency to deficiency if you just add one at a time. Flourish excel is not a nutrient.

You can start out by adding low amounts of each nutrient to your tank on a regular basis and go from there.

At minimum you need KNO3, KH2PO4, and CSM+B.

I highly recommend K2SO4 as well.

DTPA iron is nice to have, and so are CaCl2 and MgSO4 but the first 3 ferts mentioned above will have everything you need in them.

I usually buy from:

The macro micro kit is 1 bag with all nutrients mixed in at the ratio that the people on the website feel is a decent balance. This is not what you want. You need to be able to change the individual nutrients as needed.

You cannot buy these chemicals from most local stores unless you have a hydroponics store near you. They are cheaper and higher quality from online vendors.
