Do flourite increse water hardness?

So I checked the water that comes out from my tap and it is 3 degrees gh. But when I pour the water into my tank with all flourite substrate and tested the water again, it came out to be 25 degrees gh. So I was suspecting the test kit was faulty so i bought a test kit from another brand and the results are the same. So does anyone here knows whether or not the floruite cause the rise in gh or is it something else?

It`s not supposed to , but i know of one person in my club who experienced the same thing as you with a new bag of flourite, what she did to confirm it was to take two small containers of tap water, added the flourite to one & retested them a couple of days later.

I experienced this too when I used a bag of the 'dark kind' in 10gal setup got very high readings like yourself but this went away after the 4th 70% water change.
