Need a math wizard! Dosing solution Excel

Dosing Flourish Excel

Says 1 capful for every 200L every other day.
Ok, so my tank is 5 gal (actually 6 gal but heavily planted).

I was hoping that I could use a 1/4 teaspoon as a dosing with diluted excel.
I have a bottle here that is 1.5L which is manageable to use to pour.

I came up with a couple options, but im not sure if this could possibly be right. Seems extremely complicated

Any math wiz wanna take this for a spin?

Not me! I'm not a math expert but since it starts out as an estimate at best, you may have already over thunk it way back!
Since it all requires a balance between lights, plants, and CO2 as well as the ferts, there really is not going to be a precise correct answer.
Shoot for close and adjust as needed!

5ml for 200L is roughly...

5ml for 50gallons....

1ml for 10g....

so 0.5ml for 5gallons...

But, most people double that dosage, so you would go 1ml for your 5gallon tank.

Every other day? That seems so high.
I was putting it in an eye dropper, and added one drop every other day.

I have noticed some 'bubbles' at the top of the tank. I have a fluval edge (with the glass top). and the extra bubbles are annoying. Could the excel be causing this?

How do you know when you are overdosing?

One drop is usually estimated to be about 100 microlitres (of course, this depends on drop size, but it is a rough estimate).

You are nowhere near the recommended dosage of Excel. In addition, you should be adding it daily.

The bubbles that you are noticing at the top of your water surface are not due to Excel; perhaps you have a protein scum forming, which is allowing the bubbles to persist?

These are correct. You should dose everyday especially when you are heavily planted. Your dosing no where near recommended dosage. Excel only lasted 24hrs. Over dosing will cause fishes gasping for air on top of your tank.

At the advice of experts here, I've been dosing 15ml per day in my heavily planted 55gal. Plants still growing great over a year later.

I agree with the above .5 ml is the recommended dose, I however have been using 1.5ml in a roughly 7 gallon tank with good results. It's an extra ten gallon aquarium I use to grow out cuttings, but when it's all said and done it really only holds 7-8 gallons.

That a lots of bubbles but excel won't create bubbles. Something in your tank did that. Are you using HOB? Is your Outflow splashing into rocks or DW? Observe the tank. Done 30-50% weekly water change?

I do a 20% water change weekly.

I recently actually did a 60-70% water change. Same thing with the bubbles.

I do have a Hang on Back filter, came with the tank (6 gal fluval).
I noticed that there are also bubbles on the moss tree. Always were a couple, but they seem to really be stacking up now.

Should I turn the filter down?

I use 1ml daily in my 5g bow front RCS tank. My plants are 1 pretty java fern lace and 60% of ground is covered in riccia. Actually, since I started using 1ml, instead of .5ml my tank has been free of algae.

Best not to. Try to reposition your HOB. Is the rock in front of the filter blocking the outflow from the filter?

Correct, excel do act as algae control. I too supplement my canister co2 with excel daily. Good stuff.
