Dustin is pretty cool, the acting aspect he's doing there is sort animated and funny which is why I'm looking at him sort of funny. In person he's actually much cooler. Me? Not so much, boring, would rather be in the water after aquatic plants or on a reef diving.

I think it might be the 180 Gal cardinal tank:

I put it up prior to the talk.

You can see the post grow out on the right side of the tank where I hacked some Starougyne about 2 weeks ago.
The Royal Farowella's are born and raised in this tank, they have never seen any other habitat.

Yes, it's a real hawaiian shirt, goes back to my skateboarding days. When I had long hair and everyone thought I was this guy: Spicoli

I started at 8 year old, so 45-8 = 37 years. Does not include creek caught stuff I kept though, then you'd move it back to about 4 years old.

That's about when I started in the hobby. People give me funny looks when I tell them I have been involved in the aquarium hobby for 25+ years and I'm 36 but my dad used to breed fish back in the 70's and 80's thus I was introduced to this hobby and a very young age and it has been the one hobby that has been constant through my life. I know it makes my dad very happy that a hobby that he loved was passed on to me and I'm seeing my 7 year old become more and more interested in this hobby himself. My dad is in awe of some of the planted tank pictures I have shown him, yours included Tom. And equally impressed by the advancement of the equipment and husbandry involved in the hobby today, considering back then undergravel filters were considered state of the art.

All matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death life is only a dream which is an imagination of ourselves. Bill Hicks

No, step dad sucked well digger toe. Never liked him. That ended when I left for college(Caught cheating). So I found other things to do. I ended up working at the Fish Gallery for a couple of years after school. I think I was 10-11 then, John Casey was the other kid who cleaned bird poo and fish tanks(we did everything except run the cash register). Owner (Ron Simunic) was really cool, but a playboy. My Mom was very cool though. I waited till she got home to show up.

Prices form back then: Syn. angelicus was 225$ each, P pictus had just been brought into the US market, 3.99. Black Ghost knife; 15-20$. Odd thing: prices for fish have not changed in 30 years +, come down in some cases. My real dad was very cool, he was a Cave Biologist at UK. I likely would have gotten into the hobby either way.

Tom Barr
