Thrive Vs. Thrive+

Hi guys.

I dose my aquarium with Thrive, however, I am wanting to add additional iron to my tank to maintain the colors as I'm starting to see improvement with them. I have only been adding roughly 3ml of liquid iron chelate in addition to the Thrive.

I found an older thread, "Iron Chelate 11% DTPA?" that tells you how to liquify the iron. Based of my calculations, to get the amount of iron that is equal to Thrive+, i would add roughly an additional 8ml of iron to the tank for a 20 gallon tank. Would any of you be able to check my math on this? (it would require reading the older thread as well)

Thanks in Advance!

There's a lot more that goes into plant coloration than iron. I've seen some tanks with very lean iron dosing with very colorful plants. Outright iron deficiency is quite rare (I've only had it when dosing zero iron).

Thanks. I've done a test though and dosing the additional iron is helping them maintain deeper colors. Any answer to my question though?

Sorry, I'm not too great with fertilizer math and am not familiar with the particular products you are using. Hopefully someone else can help!

If you want to make a solution to add more iron that would equal the amount that is in Thrive+ you would need to add an additional 0.15ppm of fe than what is dosed via Thrive.

How much 11% iron are you adding to what sized bottle. How much are you dosing of that solution into which sized tank?

based off the link below i come up with this.. "3.5g in 125ml water for 22.5gallons
dose 2.75ml

8ml to be equal to thrive +"

11.6g into 500ml will add 0.15ppm fe into a 22.5g tank with a dose of 5ml.
