Flourish Seachem is a trace nutrient mix that will provide micronutrients as well.
Depending on your micronutrient mix, it may still be usable. It depends on how much copper there is. For example, shrimp and plants do need copper, just in minute quantities.
I am also using a chelated iron trace mix purchased from a hydroponics store, and it also has copper in it. I have been dosing it in my RCS tank, and they still seem very happy.
As for your question regarding DIY CO2; I would suggest you switch to pressurized CO2 instead. DIY CO2 will be quite a hassle on a 50g tank. In addition, the amount of money spent buying sugar, etc will eventually accumulate. I would say that you will need at least 2-3 (2L) bottles of DIY CO2 going to actually maintain a reasonable level of CO2.
Don't forget to keep them on a rotating schedule so that CO2 fluctuation is minimized.
