Mine is 24" tall (48x24x24) and I have zero issues getting plants to grow.

See tank journal for info.

currently battling some algae issues, but love the tank

I have a 24" tall tank (90 gallon). While I have not had any lighting-related issues, I do wish I had a shallower tank when it comes to doing plant maintenance.

A 26" high tank will work fine as a planted tank. Today's lights are bright enough, without spending a fortune, to work very well with that height tank. With a high tank like that you can have spiral vals grow to the surface and not drape across the tank. You can have rotala and similar stem plants grow much bigger before pruning is essential. And, it is big enough for some of the bigger fish, too.

I have a 24" tank, nice growth. But i did abandon plants like bacopa, ludwigia, because they are more demanding on light.

I have many species of Hygrophila, java fern, bolbitis, crypts, echinodorus.

Lit with one Beamswork and one Finnex Ray 2 DS led fixture.
