Everything was fine in my ten/w a 13W CFL till I did a 26W and then big time algae.
And I just read two threads which each had a similar respons from others who had used the 26W on 20g tanks(one of them not two bulbs) and also had algae issues till switching to the 13W ones.

The shortest distance between any two points is a straight line...in the opposite direction...

Its 100 w equivalent. Okay so I'll definitely buy lower lights. This is definitely why I wanted to do research before I bought everything awesome. So maybe I'll go for 13w

I would not care about wattage, but see how much light I have. Your 100 watts bulbs are certainly excessive and they are not necessary. Do not exceed 40 watts, but choose most efficient with maximum light output bulbs. Also, consider how you can assist your plants by using natural sunlight coming from windows in your house.

I suggest some of the Articles (see Article tab along top of Planted Tank site) for a number of basic planted tank details. I think there may be a 'rule of thumb' about number of watts per gallon (for high tech/high CO2 and for low tech/lowC02) somewhere out there.

(I supplement my regular 8 hrs of 13w/6 gallons with 2 hours of an additional 13 watt.... When I went to 6 hours of supplement: brutal Algae Attack).

One tank up...I suppose if I got rid of all these books I could fit in 8 more tanks!
