I just want to make a brief introduction and say hello. I've been trolling these forums for a couple of weeks now as I get my tank started. It's been very helpful. Thank you all.
I'm not new to aquariums, but can't legitimately claim to know much either. My interest has always been in the low-tech approach. After about 15 years, I decided to dust off the equipment and set it up again.
Finally, what's an intro at a place like this without a picture or two? This is a 74-gal bow which I inherited from a friend who lost interest. I started out with a harvest of crypts and java fern from my dad's tank. The crypts melted after about two weeks. In my desperate attempt to save the fish while the tank was still cycling, I ran to the store and bought a few other hearty plants to help compensate for the loss. Now, the tank is cycled, everything is growing very well, and the crypts are even making a comeback.
I will continue to troll these forums. They are chock full of good information.
