Was messing with the macro setting on my point and click camera
Got the urge and decided to snap a ton of pictures.
I'm getting overrun with BN pleco's. Apparently they are very, very, happy because I've got at least 3 different sized babies in the tank now. I'm not sure how many adults I have anymore. Anybody know a good way to catch them so I can take them into the LFS for store credit?
The pond snail decided to photo-bomb shot of a little BN so I took one of him instead.
I just did a massive pruning and cut out some overgrown swords. So I have a couple of holes for a few months until the transplants fill in so no full tank shots.
Nice photos, 169 views and no comment yet, tough croud... Maybe you could set up some sort of tube contraption thats open at one end and you can close and open at the other end, attached to string on the open side, and put some spinich or cucumber and watch, when it goes in pull it out?
I can't wait till my tank is complete so I can add fish and snap some pictures myself! It only has a couple plants in it and I still can't stop myself from just watching it as if the plants will grow before my very eyes. (Although I'm thinking about doing a timelapse but doubt my battery would make it very long)
Under stress (like running from a net) their instinct is to swim along the surface of whatever they are attached too.
If they are on the substrate they dart along the bottom until they find a hole.
If they are on the round long they just circle away from the net.
On the glass however is how to catch the little buggers. I've got a 8" net to catch a 0.5" fish (funny I know). Get the fish caught between the net and the glass. Slowly raise the net until near the surface the fish let's go of the glass and swims back in to the net. I've got 17 of them now in the 10g holding tank. Only 40 or 50 more to go.
Happy plecos, I had black khulis that did the same, had to clear the tank to catch them all. My old sailfin pleco was so used to the net he would swim to the edge and let me pick him up cause it usually meant a cleaner home or a new home and he liked change. Now I use 2 nets. A small one for chasing and a 8 inch for catching.
