10 gallon low tech tank

Just joined the forum and I figured I'd share my tank. It's just a simple little thing with a few basic plants, drift wood, flourite gravel, three black line tetras, two neon tetras and two cory cats. I have wisteria, an anubis and some ithe grassy type plant. For equipment there is just a heater, sponge filter and an 18watt hood light.

It's been up about a month and seems to be going well. To be honest I don't really know a while lot about planted tanks. This is a new venture for me. Any suggestions and advice is welcome. Thanks for looking.

Couple update photos of the tank. Not a whole lot has changed. Had a bit of algae the last few weeks but it seems to be dying down. Plants are growing really well so far. I've trimmed them back twice now. The wisteria keeps over growing and putting the anubis in the dark.

I am contemplating building an LED light for it out of some cree XM-L LEDs and a spare driver I have. The color range on the LEDs is 5k to 8k so I think it would work. Just don't want to overpower anything. Anyone have any thoughts on that? It would be 4 XM-L LEDs spaced to cover the length of the tank.

Anubias is going to die in the gravel. Should be on the driftwood or a rock. That is probably why it's yellowing.

I really love this tank.

I am stuck here with several hundred dollars worth of fish tanks that I paid for, that my ex built up with cheap fake colored gravel and plastic plants trying to figure out what to do with all of it, and I envy your 10 gam

Oh really?I had no idea. I thought it was weird that the roots were growing across the top of the gravel and not down. Thanks for the pointer on that. They had it in gravel at the lfs so I just did what they did.
