Is dwarf hair grass doable in this tank???

My low tech tank is still in the planning stage. Is a 20g long. Would be using 2 CFL lights with 13w each, those homedepot utility lights. Using Excel as the carbon source with light EI dosing. Substrate would be dirt (organic) capped with some black sand. Would hair grass grow well in this tank setup?

I think you are right on the edge with the light. It does seem to do better with more light. The question would be is two 25w bulbs too much? I grow it without any carbon source in potting soil and sand.

Thanks. Ok, I did a search and the consensus is that I shouldn't bother with DHG... unless I want to go high tech with this tank.

A 20L isnt too deep it dosent take much to light it up plus even more so with 2-3 inch substrate. Ive grown. Dhg in a 20L with 2 clip on shoplights with cfls before till they got overun by dwarf sag and died out. Thats using peatmoss and sand substrate and jobes

I'm in the same situation you are. 20L, 2x13 CFLs and excel dosing. I was told that with these 2 13 watt CFLs I would have about 80 par according to this chart

but that didn't make too much sense to me. anyway I'm gonna probably just go with dwarf sag or marsilea sp from peabodys paradise for my carpet.

It's definitely possible. I'm doing it in a 10 gallon with CFL daylight light bulbs, co2 and dosing. I don't have any recent pictures as i just did a trim and the grass doesn't look so great but here's a pic before a did my last trim.

Also I would increase your bulbs to 23 watts 1450 lumens daylight CFL's. that's what i'm running on my 20 gallon, here's a pic of that as well.
