Some pics of my "El Natural" 10g

Here are some pics of my Walstad-style el natural 10g. Been setup for several months now.

Wal-Mart 10g
1" potting soil (el cheapo)
Couple inches of standard aquarium gravel
Numerous apons. bulbs from Wal Mart
A couple of crypts
Dwarf hairgrass
2 screw-in CF in standard hood
HOB filter

i would move the hairgrass too the front... to to create more depth, maybe mess with different gravel depths

i like the floating plants

Smoke 'em if you got 'em.

The problem I have with rescaping is that it makes an ENORMOUS mess. Once the roots come out, they bring a bunch of the potting soil with them and that is quite messy. As this was my first real planted tank, I just kind of threw everything in there without a whole lot of thought, and things just kind of ended up where they were (especially the apons). They just rooted wherever they sprouted
The floating plants are actually the various apons. that have grown up to the water top....they also flower about once a week (there are several different kinds, and each flowers).

That crypt is sorta sad looking though Not sure what's the matter with it - the new leaves are very small, although there are lots of them and they are very green. Some light or nutrient deficiency I guess?
