I am going to add CO2 to my planted tank but my budget is very low, so I decided to do a DIY CO2 system using Citric Acid and Baking Soda.
I set up my system tonight for experimentation purposes i.e. it is not sending the CO2 to the tank yet. I want to learn to control it a little bit before doing so...
I have a question though. Can someone confirm for me the Ratios in US English Measurements (i.e. cups, not Litres and Grams).
I found a "recipe" that called for:
- 1.75 cups of Citric Acid and 3 cups water for bottle A
- 1.75 cups of Baking Soda and 1 cup water for bottle B.
Do these measurements make sense? It seems like about twice as much Acid and Soda as I thought it would be, and the Citric Acid is easily dissolved in 3 cups of water, but the Baking Soda separates rather quickly. I can not seem to get it to dissolve to save my life. Is this normal?
